St. George Utah Area

The major corridors in the St. George Utah area are Interstate 15, Scenic Highway 9 and State Road - Highway 18
Interstate 15

The blue line through this picture shows the path of Interstate 15 as it passes through St. George Utah.

Interstate 15 comes from San Diego and passed through California and through Las Vegas to St. George and then passes north to Cedar City, Beaver, Fillmore, Nephi, Provo, Orem and Salt Lake City, Utah. Interstate 15 continues north to the Canada border.

Scenic Highway 9

This road leaves Interstate 15 approximately 12 miles above St. George and follows an easterly course through the towns of Hurricane, Laverkin, Virgin, Rockville and Springdale Utah before passing through Zion National Park.   This road climbs from 4,000 feet in side valley of Zion National Park and rises to 6,000 feet on the east side of the park.

This photograph shows a bend in the road as highway 9 negotiates some switchbacks just prior to entering the mile-long tunnel in Zion National Park.

This view is looking west toward ZIon National Park from the upper plateau (6,000') outside of the park. This shows the long road as it passes through Zion Mountain Ranch.

This view is looking east near the east end of Scenic Highway 9 where it meets with Scenic Highway 89. The white cliffs in the distance are part of the Glendale Bench. The Grand Staircase National Monument begins just beyond these formations.
