Huntsman World Senior Games
One of the largest events in St. George is the Huntsman World Senior Games which cover a two week period every October. Nearly 10,000 sports athletes over the age of 50 come to compete in 60+ events.
The Huntsman World Senior Games is the best sporting event of its kind and teams and individuals come from many countries and from throughout the United State to compete in the sports of their choice.
The St. George Marathon is a fast qualifying marathon course for other large marathon events such as the Boston Marathon. The 26.2 mile course follows highway 18 from Central and passes scenic Snow Canyon State Park on its way to St. George.
The St. George Ironman triathlon is a new event in St. George. Approximately 2,500 athletes will compete in the St. George Ironman triathlon on an annual basis. The triathlon event begins on the water at Sand Hollow State Park going approximately 4 miles. A subsequent biking stage of the race is approximately 106 miles. The final stage of the Ironman triathlon is a full marathon that circles twice through the northwest section of St. George.
