Each of these photos shows various views over the city of St. George. This view shows the close proximity of Zion National Park to St. George (looking northeast). Zion National Park is just 45 minutes drive from downtown St. George. The view below is looking directly east over the downtown area of St. George. Major points of interest are again highlighted with text and location arrows. Clouds pass high over St. George giving the area over 325 days of sunshine annually.

Looking to the southwest the state of Arizona is on the edge of the far right. St. George actually sits just a couple of miles north of the Utah / Arizona border. The sun is beginning to set and the eastern hills are glowing with vibrant reddish hues. Much of the soil, sand and rock in the St. George area is stained red by the oxidation of iron.

Blue skies highlight this view over Snow Canyon State Park. State highway 18 runs north from St. George past the upper entrance of Snow Canyon State Park and continues to the communities listed in the upper right part of this picture. Elevations rise from the 2,800' in lower St. George to over 6,000 feet in the Pine Valley and Enterprise basins. Pine Valley mountain rises over 10,000 feet just outside the right of this picture.

The photo below is of the newly created Town Square in St. George. The Town Square is surrounded by many historic buildings and others that have been constructed to retain the historic value of this part of town. Concerts, and other events are frequently held in the commons area of the square. A splash pad and rock waterway is a great attraction for children and adults. This has quickly become a gathering place to relax and enjoy the activity of downtown.
